Legal Aid & Empowerment
Most people LAW works with have never had a lawyer, and many have been told, directly or by experience, that the law is not for them.
LAW provides legal information, assistance and representation to people who have experienced serious human rights violations and abuses, including gender based violence, in conflict affected areas. This runs from awareness sessions in displacement camps, through confidential consultations and hotlines, to full representation in court. The aim is not only to resolve the individual case. It is to help survivors and their communities regain agency: to understand their rights, assess their options with accurate information, and make their own decisions about which route to justice is worth the risk.
