Technical Assistance
Technical Assistance
LAW provides advice and mentoring to legal, justice and civil society actors, strengthening their ability to protect, assist and represent victims and survivors.
It works with justice institutions and national partners on their capacity to deliver effective, survivor centred and gender competent justice, and with legislators on the laws that make it possible. In practice this has meant drafting bills, developing standard operating procedures for police and victim protection authorities, training prosecutors on interviewing survivors without re-traumatising them, and mentoring lawyers over years rather than workshops. LAW’s view is that justice delivered at home, by institutions that will still be there afterwards, reaches more people and lasts longer.
